Saving is optional and off for every new calculation. Use the consent checkbox and Save on this browser in a calculated result. This notebook survives reloads on this browser profile only; it is not an account backup or a cloud sync.

Restoring makes the saved inputs the tool's new starting scenario. Prices, source references and financial assumptions are not refreshed. Market currency display uses the current dated exchange rates; Irish payroll stays in EUR. JSON exports keep the original USD/EUR inputs unchanged. Clear browser site data also removes this notebook.

Investment examples & Irish tax

Market examples start in USD; the Irish salary calculator always stays in EUR. Amounts and constant returns are fictional examples, not recommendations or forecasts. Keep near-term bills and emergency cash separate from stock-market scenarios, and test losses as well as growth. Borrowing and daily trading examples demonstrate risk, not default ways to fund living costs.

A current display conversion does not calculate the transaction-date EUR gains used for Irish tax. Direct shares, dividends and ETFs or funds can have different rules. US withholding may not settle Irish liability; US inheritance examples do not establish Irish treatment.

Privacy, precision & the free beta

Inputs, starting scenarios and pins remain in this open page unless you explicitly choose browser-only saving. Switching tools keeps your work; reset, a changed stock reference or reload clears working scenarios and pins. Optional named notebook snapshots survive reloads on this browser profile. Anyone with access to the profile can read them; do not save on a shared device. Restore, rename, delete, export and clear controls are in My browser notebook. Exports contain entered assumptions, so keep downloaded files private. Saving does not send inputs to the server or add them to URLs, and restoring does not refresh prices or financial assumptions. Stock links carry only ticker, reference price and retrieval date in the URL fragment. Editing clears the displayed result but keeps the starting scenario until reset or replaced.

Market currency is selected separately; Irish payroll remains in EUR. Your browser fetches public daily rates from ExchangeRate-API without sending calculator amounts. The source and UTC update date are shown; rates are indicative, not bank quotes or forecasts of future exchange rates. Switching currency converts the display without changing stored USD/EUR assumptions, percentages, ages or share counts. The retirement planning style is separate from currency and does not change jurisdiction-specific pension or tax rules. Saved JSON retains the original USD/EUR inputs; notebook displays use current dated rates. Values are rounded for display; calculations use unrounded values. Reverse goals round contributions up, and purchase prices or net cash outflow down, to cents in their original calculation currency; they explain impossible goals rather than supplying defaults.

Country selection chooses currency and requests public World Bank annual CPI using only a country code and historical years. Household size, rent and calculator amounts are not sent. Applying local assumptions updates matching unedited budget/inflation fields only. Lifestyle budgets are fictional examples, not measured country averages; you can edit them. Local tax, pension and borrowing links are guidance, not personal calculations. Saved input snapshots do not save the selected country or its guidance, and restored values are protected from country presets.

Facts, challenges and what-ifs are mathematical illustrations, not market evidence or AI predictions. Optional premium research may be considered later; paid enrollment remains closed during the educational beta.

Irish Salary After Tax Calculator 2026: a practical guide

What could my Irish salary leave after tax in 2026?

See what a steady Irish PAYE salary could leave after Income Tax, USC, employee PRSI and entered deductions. Or start with the monthly take-home pay you need.

By VolatileShares · Example version 1 · Updated . Hypothetical inputs, not financial recommendations or live company data.

A worked example, in plain English

The idea in 10 seconds: Your contract shows gross pay. Income Tax, USC, PRSI and deductions determine the cash available for bills, saving and investing.

Gross pay is not the amount you can spend.

Single PAYE employee estimate, not a payslip. Auto-enrolment is not assumed; enter known deductions. Irish payroll is shown in EUR, not the market display currency.

Walk me through the full calculation

Start with gross salary. Income Tax, USC and employee PRSI are separate deductions. Subtract the full pension contribution and any entered after-tax deductions to find the estimated cash left. The breakdown shows annual, monthly and weekly equivalents, not exact payslip rounding.

Budget from take-home pay, not gross salary. Keep emergency savings and Irish tax obligations separate from money you may invest in US shares. This 2026 single-employee estimate does not calculate tax on investments.

2026 estimate for one Irish-resident, single PAYE employee aged 18-65, with full standard personal and employee credits and Class A PRSI. Steady pay throughout the year; standard USC only. Excludes joint assessment, children/extra credits, medical-card relief, benefits in kind, bonuses, share awards, self-employment, other income and payroll rounding. Auto-enrolment is not assumed: include a known deduction under other after-tax deductions. This is not a payslip or tax return. All salary inputs, results and tax thresholds are in EUR. Other deductions default to zero, so a real auto-enrolment deduction is not included unless entered.

Inputs used for this example

These are the calculator's example defaults, not suggested amounts or rates. Irish salary inputs, reverse goals, results and saved-scenario readouts always use EUR. Optional pension-relief bands avoid asking for an exact age or date of birth. The visible pay breakdown switches between monthly, annual and weekly equivalents.

Work backwards from your goal

What gross salary could leave my monthly take-home goal?

Start with a monthly take-home goal to find a gross salary example under the same 2026 assumptions.

Choose Work backwards, enter your target and the few essential inputs, then choose Calculate my goal. The answer is checked with the same forward calculation and applied in one step. Example assumptions are disclosed under More options. Expand Calculation details & tools only if you want more detail. Impossible or out-of-range goals show an error instead of invented numbers. Long numbers display commas while editing; calculations and saved snapshots keep the original precision.

Uses the same bounded 2026 single PAYE employee estimate. Finds the lowest whole-cent salary within the supported range, including USC and PRSI threshold jumps. A salary offer and exact payroll deductions are not guaranteed.

How the calculation works

Calculate in EUR: Income Tax uses the EUR 44,000 standard band, 20%/40% rates and standard credits. USC uses 2026 bands and the EUR 13,000 exemption. Class A PRSI uses weekly-equivalent pay, exemption and tapered credit. Net = gross - Income Tax - USC - PRSI - full employee pension contribution - other deductions.

What this cannot tell you

2026 estimate for one Irish-resident, single PAYE employee aged 18-65, with full standard personal and employee credits and Class A PRSI. Steady pay throughout the year; standard USC only. Excludes joint assessment, children/extra credits, medical-card relief, benefits in kind, bonuses, share awards, self-employment, other income and payroll rounding. Auto-enrolment is not assumed: include a known deduction under other after-tax deductions. This is not a payslip or tax return. Full-year PRSI uses 9 months at 4.2% and 3 at 4.35%; the other settings annualise one period's rate. Weekly-equivalent thresholds and an even-pay approximation are not an exact monthly payroll schedule. Pension relief is capped by age and EUR 115,000 earnings; excess contributions still reduce cash pay. Irish payroll is always displayed in EUR, independently of other calculator currency settings.

Changing an assumption changes the example, not the future. Verify source dates and actual product, tax and lending terms before relying on any result. These tools do not replace appropriately qualified advice.

Official sources for the 2026 estimate

Checked 2 November 2026. Single PAYE employee, standard credits, steady pay and Class A PRSI only. The full-year estimate weights the January–September and October–December PRSI rates 9:3. Period-specific settings annualise one rate. Week and month rows are equivalent amounts, not an exact payslip schedule. Auto-enrolment is not assumed; enter a known contribution in other deductions.

Irish payroll stays in EUR regardless of market currency or optional location settings. Salary Income Tax is not the tax rate for US-share gains, dividends or funds.

Pension relief is not relief from every deduction

Eligible employee pension contributions can reduce income subject to Income Tax within age and earnings limits. They do not reduce USC or PRSI. The full contribution still leaves your current cash pay, even if part receives no current tax relief.

Illustrative arithmetic, not market evidence or a promise of returns.

Keep a useful starting point

In the interactive calculator, compare different assumptions or explicitly save a named snapshot to My browser notebook. Saving is optional and browser-only, not an account or cloud backup. Revisit it on the same browser profile; restoring never refreshes prices or assumptions.
