Overnight momentum
Price movement, measured volume acceleration and related evidence, from after-hours into the next pre-market.
Refresh requests new delayed provider data during standard extended-hours sessions. Outside those sessions, saved observations remain. Repeat requests have a 30-second cooldown; retrieval time is not trade time.
What triggers a flag?
- Early watch: at least +1% session change and 10,000 session shares. This first observation alone is not a volume-acceleration claim.
- Price + volume rising: three consecutive retrieval samples with two rising prices and a higher shares-per-minute rate in the latest interval. A larger cumulative volume alone does not qualify.
- Strengthening: two consecutive price/volume-acceleration readings, at least +2% session gain and 50,000 shares.
- Continuation: pre-market price above the last saved after-hours sample, matched using the provider's previous regular-session date and unchanged regular-price reference. It is not necessarily the after-hours close.
- Fading: watch thresholds no longer met, price retreats after a flag, or price falls back to/below the saved after-hours reference.
Gaps over five minutes, cumulative-volume resets or changed session markers restart rate comparisons. A new monitor cannot reconstruct an earlier session. Seven calendar days of history are retained. Weekends/holidays are matched by the provider's dated previous regular session; early-close and overnight 24-hour sessions are not covered by the standard-hours scheduler.
These are delayed retrieval observations, not live trade timestamps or buy signals. The provider's session timestamp identifies a session, not the age of its last trade. Polling faster cannot remove the source's delay.
